"I’m on a highway to hell! Duhn-duhn." Chase hummed. It was a cool, beautiful, Saturday afternoon in Twinbrook, and that only meant one thing. We were on our way to pick up Chase’s kids.
Now Chase was a day late on picking up his kids, which meant his ex-wife might be a little upset, but that was totally reasonable. One being the kids were on summer break, meaning she was cooped up with them, and two… Well, two is kind of touchy. It has to do with a man named Mason.
"Megan?" Chase lowered the volume on the stereo.
"What’s up?" His eyes left the road and met mine. "You’re tense. What’s bothering you?"
"Besides you not paying attention to the road, nothing. Nothing at all."
Chase turned to the road. “Sorry.”
I let out a huge sigh. “I’m nervous, okay?”
"About what? Aries and Jayme?"
"Yes. I know we’ve met before, but now that I’m living with you, I feel as if they hate me."
"They don’t hate you."
"You started it."
"And I’m ending it." I let out a giggle as I turned up the radio.
